December see’s the return of one of my favourite events, the Leeds Alternative Comics Fair. Now on it’s fifth outing this snug micro con has been something of a trailblazer for the disgruntled alternative comics fan languishing in one of Britain’s many second cities. In it’s wake the excellent Bristol Comics and Zine Fair and Newcastle’s Canny Comics Con have opened for business, slaking the thirst of alternative comics enthusiasts in the locality. What these and other micro cons (honourable mention must be given to the recent SELZF) prove is that all you need to make a decent con in your town is a pub, three or four people willing to carry things and a little social networking magic.

As the only southerner permitted to attend the event (not a joke, anyone discovered to be from London is forcibly ejected) I thought I’d share with my excluded brethren some pics of previous LACFs
