The agonizing wait is finally over, The Black Project Launch was the night before last at the London Print Studio.

As well as an opportunity to quaff booze, the exhibition was a chance for me to show some of the original embroideries and prints that went into the making of the book.

There were also a couple of surprise installations involving the half fashioned ‘girlfriends’ that the protagonist of The Black Project is so fond of making.

The real stars of the show however were the incredible cakes made by the fabulous Sarah Lightman, which were somehow made to look like pages of the book.

They didn’t last long as they tasted as good as they looked. I wonder if my next graphic novel should be produced entirely in the medium of cake.

The mid point of the evening involved a reading and a highly congenial Q & A with top comics academic Paul Gravett

Thanks to everyone who came along, in particular The London Print Studio for having me, and to the Myriad Editions team for making it run so smoothly.
